Spanish 1

This course will cover the basics of Spanish, learning fundamental vocabulary and grammar as well as pronunciation skills. Throughout the course, students will practice both understanding and speaking Spanish, with the lessons building progressively to give the student a solid foundational basis for continued study of the Spanish language.

Live classes will meet weekly, 30 weeks, beginning the first week of September (see the posted Academic Schedule for holidays) on the same day and time each week, for a one-hour-live class. At that class the tutor will: explain the assignment for the coming week; answer your questions and perhaps pose some; note and address any problems or difficulties noticed in the prior week’s work; and lead a brief discussion of the topic at hand. These are rather informal and friendly live tutoring sessions.

Spanish 2

This course will build on the skills covered in Spanish 1, increasing vocabulary and grammar knowledge, as well as fluency of speech. By the end of the course, the students will have a good working knowledge of the language, preparing them either for continued study or giving them the background necessary for basic practical communication skills in Spanish.

This course will build on the skills covered in Spanish 1 and Spanish 2, leading the student to a more advanced knowledge of the Spanish language. With a continued emphasis on speaking, writing, and understanding Spanish, students will progress in their knowledge of the language, giving them more advanced communication and study skills.

Spanish 4

This advanced Spanish course will be supported by the skills developed in Spanish 1, 2, and 3. The student will continue to cover advanced aspects of vocabulary and grammar, while applying these skills to Spanish literature and becoming increasingly confident in the ability to communicate, in either written or oral form, with native Spanish speakers.
